I deliberately went for this item based on the high consumer reviews because so many of the cheaper products were reviewed badly and I felt that it was not worth going through this. I wanted an external dvd / cd drive to be able to access my own personal archived photos on cd and also to watch a dvd on my personal computer. It works beautifully. It is easy to use - you only need to load some software, which comes with the player - and then you are away! I love how compact it is - very easy to store when you are not using it or to pop it into your laptop case and take with you. It comes with a standard usb connection, but I have an adapter for my laptop so I can easily use it with a usb "c" connection. You may just want to check your device before you order - or else you can easily pick up an adapter. Playback was smooth and I have had no trouble with this device yet. It is exactly what I was after, it fulfils the functions I wanted it to and I have had no trouble with a cheap product not performing as I suspect I may have done if I had gone for the bottom of the line in terms of price and / or reliability. Purchased a cheap unbranded portable DVD RW USB before and that was a waste of money. It could not read any DVD so decided to spend a bit more which was just a couple of coffees really and buy this LG DVD RW USB. What a difference, read the dvd straightaway. It is fast too. Perfect.
