DVD Region Coding Notes:
DVD region codes are an in-built security technology designed to allow movie studios to control aspects of a release, according to the region. DVD discs may be encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can be played.
The commercial DVD player specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs encoded for a different region. However in certain countries this does not apply and DVD Players are sold "Region Free" which all recent Australian DVD players are, by law.
Most recent Australian DVD Players are Region Free and will play discs from Region 1,2,3,4, 5 or 6.
DVD Regions are defined as:
Region 1: USA and Canada
Region 2: UK, Europe, Japan, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: Southeast Asia and Hong Kong
Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, South America, Oceania
Region 5: Africa, Central Asia, Russia
Region 6: China
Please ensure your DVD player is either compatible with this DVD region or Region Free. To find out if your player is Region Free please consult your Owner's Manual or DVD Player Supplier.
Buyers from the USA or anyone with a NTSC format DVD player please note that a PAL format DVD may not work in your player.
If in doubt about your region coding, please contact us before buying and we will endeavour to answer your queries.
