Manchester POND LILY Spoon Ring, OLD, RARE, Sz 6-9 Art Nouveau

CRISP FINE DETAILED MANCHESTER ORIGINAL...1/2" ACROSS...8 GRAMS...EXCELLENT CONDITION...SZ 6-9...FOR A SMALLER THAN AVERAGE FINGER.

This Manchester gem dates to pre-1900, during the Art Nouveau period, which was characterized by loose flowing, asymmetrical lines with an emphasis on creativity and originality.  This ring is most unusual in that you see the Lily pad at the top of the handle, where normally you would see the blossom.Below the pad are gently flowing leaves which outline the top of the Lily Blossom.  Farther down you see more leaves against a textured background.  Inside, the Sterling and Manchester marks are still intact.  A most unusual ring--attractive, original and typical of the early Art Nouveau movement.

Most of the Sterling silverware produced from the 1870's to the 1940's were floral patterns.  Hundreds of these patterns were produced, though only a small percentage of the original volume still exists.  Two extreme inflations in the silver market,  one currently in effect for the last 6-8 months has resulted in millions of pieces of sterling, mostly in sets being sold through jewelry stores and pawnshops to be quickly sent to smelters for current "scrap price". 

All my rings are made from authentic sterling silver, mostly between 50 and 100 years old.  I do not deal in reproductions or pieces altered in any way.  BUYER BEWARE:  There are an increasing number of internet stores selling "fake" spoon rings, mostly poor re-castings of original pieces. 

I regard these florals to be eceptional works of art, and the production standards were quite high, producing detailed crisp details.  I buy pieces mostly in excellent or near new condition.
