This 1978 album from the largely forgotten British outfit Sad Café offers a strong representation of their mainstream (at the time) pop-rock sound. At times Sad Café sounds like `70s soft rock acts such as Poco or the Alan Parsons Project ("Black Rose" and "Run Home Girl"); other times they pull out the blues-rock jams (the amped-up opener, "Restless"). In all, MISPLACED IDEALS sounds a bit dated, but for those who like their rock mixed with balladry and soft, harmony-laden pop, and for fans of Styx, Boston, and Kansas, Sad Café is worth a listen.
