Overpriced and underperforming. I've used quite a few flint strikers and was excited to try this new compact Bear Grylls Compact Firestarter, as it's compact and I assumed would be top quality. For the record, it works, but not nearly as well as other much lower priced models. It is very hard to get a spark, and the sparks are very small, whereas other varieties of flint strikers that have been out for over five years easily throw a shower of sparks. Even worse, there were no instructions on it, and a novice would not have known that the black paint has to be scraped off the rod before using, or no sparks will occur at all. The only place to get instructions, is on YouTube. Gerber used to be a dependable company that made tools for the military. I feel sorry for anyone who has to depend on this. I've used no-name flint strikers from China for less than a dollar that were on par with this low quality product.Read full review

Lightweight and small, about the size of a pen but don't have any compartment for tinder or something to catch your spark.
