Allison Lahue inherited a very old house in the town of Blacksburg, Virginia. Her and her husband, Mark, move there planning to make it their home where she can continue her painting and Mark can write his books. They leave Los Angeles excited at the thought of fixing the house up to live in and to raise the child, Allison, expected to be born in a few months. The Deputy Clerk of the town warns them to stay away from the house which he claims is evil. Allison refuses to believe the old man but is soon faced with the terrifying fact that he may be right. With Mark, the old clerk, and a frail old woman who claims to be a good witch, she battles both the residents of the town and unseen forces to claim what is rightfully hers.
