International Energy Economics provides the reader with a survey of what is happening in the field of energy economics. The book is composed of a blend of surveys and original research articles casting light on different topics within energy economics. In the first half, the editor has collected papers describing how economists model the building blocks of energy demand and supply. Some of these articles survey modelling within a whole field of research such as industrial demand, while others report on new research about, for example, the determinants of oil exploration in developing countries. In the second half of the book, these building blocks are integrated into the economy and various chapters describe how this interaction can be modelled. Once again the editor has blended chapters that give the reader an overview (for instance, of energy-economy modelling in one particular country) with other papers that give the flavour of actual research work. Several chapters address the important issues of how the energy sector relates to environmental issues.
