I like Leonard's writing style. The anecdotes from the martial arts are useful in teaching about overcoming plateaus. I bought the book after reading about it in de la Maza's "Rapid Chess Improvement." The path to chess mastery is much like that espoused in Leonard's book. Overcome the plateaus through sheer force of will. Keep marching, and you will progress to mastery. It always boils down to you and your will to master your subject. Get the DVD as well. Seeing folks from various walks of life (and highly successfull --- B.B. King, Santana, etc.) talking about their views on mastery is worth the price of the DVD.
Mastery comes from regular practice. He covers that is a way that is practical and doable. Great book.

This book is profound and practical at the same time. For those interested in taking the hard, consistent, difficult path of mastery, few books say as much in as few pages. Definitely worth the read.
