Neytiri - The character

Zoe Saldana plays the princess of the Na'vi tribe on the moon Pandora. She is attracted to the former Marine Jake Sully because of his bravery. The Na'vi are approximately 10 feet tall, have tails, and sparkling blue skin.

Avatar - The movie

James Cameron's epic is a science fiction movie that takes place in the future. It's about humans occupying avatars to force peaceful aliens, the Na'vi, to evacuate their mineral-rich forest. Jake Sully is a former US Marine who was paralyzed from the waist down in a prior battle on earth. He is selected to become an avatar, which will allow him to walk. He travels to Pandora, home of the Na'vi, who are considered primitive and have superior physical capabilities. As the humans invade Pandora's forest to seek valuable minerals, the Na'vi defend their existence which is in jeopardy. The Na'vi use the creatures and environment of Pandora to resist the high-tech weaponry of the humans. Jake is being sent into Pandora's jungles as a scout for the soldiers that follow. There he meets Neytiri and begins to fall in love with her. Jake finds himself forced to choose sides in a battle that will decide the fate of the Na'vi.

James Cameron - The director

James Cameron's inspiration was "every single science fiction book I read as a kid". He developed a whole language and culture for the Na'vi, the indigenous race on Pandora. Cameron wants us to think a little bit about the way we interact with nature and our fellow man. "The Na'vi represent something that is our higher selves, or our aspirational selves, what we would like to think we are," and "the humans in the film, even though there are some good ones salted in, represent what we know to be the parts of ourselves that are trashing our world and maybe condemning ourselves to a grim future."

Specifics - The bamboo arm bracelet
