Listing Update...This is my last set.
This offering is for one set of new-old-stock Shimano 600 Touring shifters (stem-clamp model). This is a nice friction-only alloy shifter set that was probably in current production from the late 70's to the early 80's...so they pre-date the advent of index shifting technology. As a result, they should perform admirably with just about any 5, 6 or 7-speed friction-based drivetrain.
Aside from their age, probably the most desirable characteristic of this offering is the complete set of cables, housing and mounting hardware that accompanies each shifter set. By all accounts, this offering is as complete of a shifter set as we have ever come across...and the fact that it's around 30 years old makes this offering all the more unique.
More specifically, the cables, housing and mounting hardware included herein will allow for these shifters to clamp onto an old-style quill stem with a 22.2 mm (7/8") quill diameter. From this point, the shifter cables track the length of the down tube and are routed over the bottom bracket shell. The left-side (front derailleur) cable will then head "north" and is intended to connect to an old style front derailleur that has a built-in cable housing stop. The right-side (rear derailleur) cable will continue a track along the top of the right chain stay where it will funnel through the clamp-on chainstay cable housing bracket and then wrap around to the rear derailleur. Please also keep in mind that while I have only commented on the cable routing for this particular shifter set, there exists all the chromoly steel clamp-on mounting hardware and cable housing to achieve this desired cable routing without any braze-on fittings present on the intended frame. To this end, please review the pictures for all of these small parts and if there are any questions concerning any of the pieces, please do not hesitate to contact us.
As for condition, the few sets we have are new and unused, but the original packaging is in rough shape. There are still remnants of the original retail packaging, but it does very little to protect all of the individual pieces that come with this shifter set. As a result, we have re-packed each shifter set, so the shopwear (scuffs and scratches) is limited to that which was present prior to our acquisition of the shifter sets. To this end, please expect some shopwear on these shifter sets (as well as some "yellowing" of the white cable housing), but the sets still show fairly well overall, especially when considering their vintage.
Listing Update...We've had some questions concerning the stainless steel spiral-wound cable housing piece. My apologies for the oversight, as this is the one piece in the set that is not original to the set. I know this for a fact, because none of these shifter sets included the small piece of front derailleur cable housing that seats near the bottom of the down tube and then rises up to meet the cable housing stop on the front derailleur. I don't know why none of the sets included this cable housing piece, but if you intend to run the front derailleur cable over the bottom bracket shell, then this piece is needed. As a result, we dug up some vintage stainless steel cable housing pieces to include with these shifter sets (so each set may be considered as truly complete). For what it is worth, I also looked around for equivalent Shimano branded white cable housing pieces to match the other pieces, but I did not have any available...so I thought a stainless steel cable housing piece would be the next best alternative.

Note to international customers regarding shipping...
We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.
Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we aplogize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
