Minimal discernible shelf wear to the actual hardcover itself, the interior is tight and spotlessly
clean with 360 pages absolutely filled with photographs. The dustjacket has some very mild graze blemish from storage but remains very glossy and bright, just a small repaired tear to back spine fold. Fabulous photographs throughout. FANTASTIC COPY!

Peter Allen's performances at the height of
his career in London, New York and Los Angeles were nothing less than
spectacular, drawing rave reviews, cult crowds and an ever-increasing network
of influential friends. This book is an insider's look at the man - his fame,
image, artistry and survival (based on interviews with the people who knew and
loved him the most - Liza Minelli, Bette Midler, Richard Gere, Harry Connick
Jnr. etc). With dozens of colour & black and white photographs.
Peter Allen's vivacious life is recounted
through interviews with those who knew and loved him best in this exciting
biography. Well illustrated with dozens of b&w and colour pictures this is
the biography of Peter Allen. If you still call Australia home, this book will
surprise you about Allen. He had a very interesting life. When Norman Gunston
took him off singing I GO TO RIO, he had really arrived down under. The
popularity of the tribute show THE BOY FROM OZ shows how loved his music was
and how good a story his life in show biz was. This is an amazing, enjoyable book for anyone.
This biography has been out of print for
many years but has been reissued to tie in with the arena musical production of
The Boy from Oz starring Hugh Jackman. MacLean follows the fascinating
and complex trajectory of Allen's stardom, from his rise during the
gender-blurred scramble of the '70s to becoming part of the popular mainstream
and winning renown for his powerhouse performances.

"talent" stamped all over him and a jump-start, whirl-wind marriage
to Liza Minnelli, Allen had a one-way ticket to the Big Time. What could be
further from his humble beginnings in country Australia than the legendary
performances in his heyday that, as one critic wrote, "would have
scandalised any decade other than the 70s"?
