I have never tried a co-wash before, so can only compare to "regular" shampoo-conditioning. As my hair is unusually thick and long, very dry due to dyeing and also quite oily at the roots, and my scalp is somehow still dry (see, I am the ideal shampoo guinea pig - feel free to send samples ;)), I was not expecting this to really clean my hair. But it does! Hair simply gets clean. Most significantly, since I started using this my scalp has never been happier. It is not dry anymore, turns out it was a reaction to SLS. My lengths are also quite soft, pretty similar to a decent (but not heavy) conditioner. I hope the gentle cleansing will help decrease oil production over time, but no sign of that so far. Because it doesn't foam up, this stuff is much more time and effort- requiring than regular washing. You need to use a lot of product, add it in sections, massage, comb through lengths, wait for as long as you can and then massage, massage, massage again. If I try to speed this up it doesn't work as well as it should. It is still worth it to me though, just to get rid of the drying effects of SLS. The product does what it says it will, which is quite impressive in my case. But I take one star off because the bottle is not big enough (for my use), and because the product is a bit too "one size fits all" for my taste. The bottle might seem big at almost 500 ml, but I use about twice the amount as with a regular shampoo/conditioner. The whole bottle gave me 6 or 7 washes. It will get too expensive to keep ordering from abroad every fortnight.. Palmer's: please make a giant sized bottle for long haired beasts! Or at least cheaper refills.. The pump should also dispense more at a time. And I think the company would make a lot of money if they diversified this into at least two lines (e.g. a more intense one for oily/thick hair and a lighter one for dry/thin hair), I really don't see why there should only be one option for co-wash when there are thousands for regular shampoos. But all in all it works and I recommend trying this. Especially if you have dry hair and scalp: buy this and never look back. If you have thick hair with oily roots like me, try it and alternate with regular shampoo if it is too much work for everyday use.Read full review

This is the first time I've tried 'cowashing' and as much as I wish I could say I'm never going back to shampoo, this item doesn't stop an itching scalp or make my hair stay as fresh as it normally does after a wash. It smells wonderful and for the first day/2 days feels great and nourished however after this, my head had felt like I've contracted live. This maybe just my scalp getting used to not having harsh chemicals on it to clean it. I have natural curly/wavy hair and it's very coarse/dry. I normally go 5-7 days without washing it however since using this product I've noticed my hair getting greasier quicker. Worth a shot but something to bare in mind.

Absolutely love that this has no sulfates or parabens - with the added benefit that you know you're getting a quality product from the Palmers brand! I use this as a leave in conditioner whilst in the shower after an initial shampooing. I have shoulder length highlighted fine/medium hair with a bit of wave, and initially used too much conditioner and weighed it down, but now I just use 10 pumps to leaves my hair soft and manageable.

My curls love this co-wash. I find I need to slap some of the coconut conditioner through my ends on top of the co-wash but that's because I over bleached my hair last year trying to get it to go silver. I have very thick, long hair and wash it every other day or so. A bottle of this lasts me approx 2 months so it's good value for money. I have a blue/green temporary colour through the ends of my hair for about 2/3 months which was supposed to wash out after a couple weeks, I've found this co-wash helps keep the colour for much longer. The bleaching probably helped too but I find it fades after a clarifying shampoo wash. I do this wash once a month after a coconut oil deep condition. It takes a bit of getting used to the way this co-wash works. I find rubbing small blobs onto my scalp works better than the way usual shampoo is just rubbed through. No foam makes it harder to feel where the product is so it takes a bit longer than usual shampoo but it only took a few washes to get used to this.Read full review

This stuff cleans your hair without stripping it of its natural oils. It smells nice and leaves your hair really soft and shiny. I would be wary though of buying it if you have really greasy hair. You must follow the instructions closely and not just do what you think with it. Overall I rate this highly.
