You are bidding on a single RCA MI-11411 Speaker Mechanism. This is the original (more rare and sought after) version of famous LC1* series of speakers designed by Harry Olson in the late 1940s. Primarily used in Radio and Television broadcast, as well as recording studios (the RCA 'Living Stereo' recordings were mastered through LC-1A's). They eventually found their way into the homes of very well-heeled and discriminating 'hi-fi' buffs. I Introduced in the late 1940's as the MI-11411 (the ones with the smooth cones), housed in the LC-1A cabinet. Sometime after 1950, Olson added the famous 'camel bumps' to the low frequency cone, and the 'butterfly' deflector to the tweeter. These new driver units were called LC-1A (rather than the entire system--cabinet+driver--being referred to thus). Later versions were the LC-1B and LC-1C. I believe that these had treated cloth surrounds, whereas the originals all had rolled paper surrounds. The speaker is in very good condition for its age, the tweeter works perfectly and the woofer surround has been treated with a "glue" speacially designed to restore vintage speakers surrounds. The speaker sounds great and was used until a few weeks ago in Olson cabinets in my main system. See my other auctions for another MI-11411 speaker mechanism. Shipping cost will be $45 in the continental USA. Thank you for ooking and good luck.
