Now to this fine item:

What a find!

Electricity in society and in the home was in its absolute infancy when this book was published.

Homes and streets had gaslamps. (The lamplighter was the fellow who lit the gas street lamps each evening and turned them off in the morning). The many changes of the 20th century were just beginning . . .

But this book is not as a 'display feature' on the bookshelf, as the cover boards are extremely scruffy and warped. The spine is not much better, having clearly been repaired at the edges!

Also, the first two blank pages immediately within have 2" x 1" damage to top corner.

Now the better news!

The substantial 277pg page-block within is entirely sound and the open pages are clean and entirely respectable. The closed block has a minor edge stain.

To be clear, this book is, very precious. It is very old. It is also very tired.

And, for the right buyer, something oh!-so-interesting and, indeed, precious to own.
