Excerpt from Report on the Subject of Paying Interest on Current Deposits: Presented to the Banks in New-York At a meeting of Officers of the Banks in the City of New-York, convened at the rooms of the Clearing House Association, at 3 o'clock. P. M., on the 5th March, 1858, at which thirty-nine Banks were represented: Thos. Tilestson, was chosen Chairman and J. L. Everitt, Secretary. The Committee previously appointed to confer with the various Banks in this City, relative to the discontinuance of the practice of allowing interest on current deposits, presented their Report, of which the annexed is a copy: On motion of Moses Taylor, President of the City Bank, the Report was unanimously accepted and adopted as expressing the sentiments of the meeting, (with but a single dissenting voice.)
