2005 National Reso-phonic M2 with factory custom upgrades.
This beautiful instrument from my personal collection was ordered as a custom job from National Resophonic in 2005. If you view the standard M2 on the national guitars website, you will see that this one has some significant upgrades. A one of a kind, this guitar is a model not available in Australia to my knowledge, and there is certainly not another National with these upgrades in the country.
The M2 features full mahogany construction, with a bone nut and rosewood fretboard.
A true blues machine, this guitar is excels at bottleneck slide or fingerstyle.
Unlike the many inferior asian copies, this is a real National so it can get very LOUD! The 9.5 hand spun resonator has great attack and beautiful sustain.
If you have only ever heard cheap imitations, you will be amazed at the tone of a National Resonator. They aren't considered the best in the world for no reason! I regularly use this guitar for my professional gigs in cafes, restaurants and at private functions where I play acoustic fingerstyle blues. For most small venues it does not need to be amplified.
Upgrades:-
The upgrades to this guitar were done in the factory at the time of manufacture. They were not retrospective or aftermarket. Don at National Resophonics did a great job making my dream guitar come to life.
Firstly, I had the colour upgraded to a lovely dark red//brown colour instead of the caramel colour that is standard.
Next I changed the neck from the normal paddle style peghead to a classy old style slotted headstock with 3 on a plate Waverly Tuners.
I was really not keen on the standard "Mother of pearl" headstock overlay, so I had that upgraded to ivoroid to match the fretboard binding. In my opinion it is much classier and tasteful look.
The result is a gorgeous, robust, beautifully toned instrument that any professional musician would be proud to own. Check out the pics and I am sure you will have to agree this guitar is a head turner and truly unique in Australia.
It is offered in the original National Resophonics hard case, with gorgeous dark blue interior.
Condition:-
The guitar is in excellent condition, with only a few tiny marks on the back, and a couple of very faint tiny pick marks. Please see the pics, and if you are interested I can email more pics if required. Please note the 5cent piece on the photo showing the back of the guitar for scale.
It has been played in public at my gigs, which are acoustic blues in cafes and private functions. (no stage dramatics - I sit on a stool and play!)
Its been lightly played and never dropped or damaged.
The case has some cosmetic damage on the outside, but is structurally perfect and immaculate on the inside.
