Russian composer Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908) was regarded as a master of orchestral music, and also wrote several operas. He was a very considerable musical figure during his lifetime, influencing such composers as Igor Stravinsky. 'Scheherazade', op.35, written in 1888, is one of his most famous works, and is still very popular today. It tells a story based on '1001 Nights', in which Scheherazade saves her life from a cruel sultan by weaving 1001 stories to enchant him, and thus prevented him from killing her, as he did all his other lovers. This work has always been one of my favourites, and my only reason for selling this CD is that I own several versions of it, and I am trying to clear some space on my CD shelves. The work is here performed by the excellent Radio Symphony Orchestra Ljubljana, conducted by Anton Nanut. Tracks are as follows:

1. The Sea and Sinbad's Ship (Largo e maestoso)
2. The Story of Prince Kalender (Lento-Adagio)
3. The Young Prince and Princess (Andantino quasi allegretto)
4. Festival at Baghdad (Allegro molto)

NOTE: FREE POSTAGE IS WITHIN AUSTRALIA ONLY. INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE IS AVAILABLE: Flat rate to all countries, with CD to be mailed without the plastic pack, AU$5; if you want the plastic pack, AU$8.50. Please advise me of your international postage preference at the close of the sale.
