"Some of the tracks featured are live concert performances or re-recordings made by the original artists," reads the disclaimer on the back of the budget-priced Rockin' and Rollin' compilation, which is fair warning for recordings otherwise sourced only as "Licensed courtesy of Classic World Productions Ltd." That said, the material seems to come primarily, if not entirely, from the early to mid-'70s since, for example, a cover of the Beatles' late-1969 hit "Something" is included, along with versions of the last few Ike & Tina Turner R&B hits, "Sweet Rhode Island Red," "Sexy Ida, Pt. 1," and "Baby-Get It On" from 1974-1975. Also included are such seemingly unlikely song choices as "Stormy Weather" and "I'm Movin' On," always rendered with Tina's overwhelming fervor. This isn't the best of Ike & Tina Turner by any means, but there are some terrific performances. ~ William Ruhlmann
