Do the Stones have a bad album? This is the closest they get to one and it's still better than most band's greatest hits. Start Me Up is an anthem, Black Limousine rocks, Hang Fire is a catchy 80's thing, Slave is a bluesy number with a cool rythem, Neighbors is a bunch of yelling until the chorus kicks in, and there a couple of nice ballads in Tops and No Use In Crying, as well as the classic Waiting On A Friend. There is some strange stuff on this album, though. Little T & A is weird, as are Worried About You and Heaven which kind of sound like they had been done by Prince instead of the Stones. I thought this was one of the worst albums I had ever heard after hearing it. But I listened to it a couple more times and realized that it wasn't bad. It was just a different direction the Stones took on this album. I don't know how many times I've listened to one of their albums and was either disappointed or didn't really think too much the first time through. Then I listen to it again, and I'm like whoa. Where'd they come up with this genius? Even the weird songs kind of grow on you. I found myself humming the chorus of Little T & A going "I thought I hated that song". Guess I changed my mind. Same thing happened the first time I listened to Exile on Main Street, although not to the same degree. I didn't like it as much until I listened to it like three times. Now it's one of my all time favorite albums. I wouldn't go as far as to say that about Tattoo. But it's an album that shows a lot of variety and good musicianship. After a few listens, even the weird ones are pretty cool. Just like the Stones.Read full review
This is my most favorite Rolling Stones album so far. Almost every tune is outstanding. I enjoyed each and every track, especially the opening one. If you only buy one Stones album, buy this one.

This album has some of the more classic Stones songs on it, but I actually preferred the lesser known songs like "Tops", "Heaven" and "No use in Crying". I would recommend.
