S Series Valiant " Dash Decal Kit "
Is your S series Valiant Instrument cluster a bit sad, faded or just plain crusty? from the last 52 years of service as one of the coolest and
most distinctive cars on the road?
After being a valiant enthusiast myself, i found the lack of repo parts for the sv1 very frustrating when trying to restore my own S series.
So here we have for auction " 1x S series Valiant Dash Decal Kit"
This Kit is Printed and Cut to fit your Dash instruments included in the kit is
decals to fit
. Temperature Gauge
. Both a MPH and KPH so you can choose if you want to continue to live in the 60's
or change with the times ? .
This kit is a great way to convert from MPH to KPH
Installation- You need to remove your cluster and separate the instruments from the back. You need "time and patience" to carefully to install the decals. If the dials are dirty? clean the instrument faces with wax and grease remover on a tissue. Allow to completely dry before installation. (Must Be Dry!) Just before we get to fitting the dials now is a good time to paint your needles ("Carefully") if they are faded. Orange enamel model paint and fine brushes are available from most hobby stores ( e.g Toyworld!)
Applying the decals to the faces, surface must be dry! The High quality vinyl kit is printed on a matt finish so when light is projected on the dials ( at night with lights on) they don't shine and reflect like a gloss finish. You will need a pair or 2x of tweezers to position the decal, as for the speedo you may need to remove the needle ( be careful its spring loaded and we don't want to upset the setting). If not you maybe able to position the decal under the needle but lining up the decal to the original numbers ( take your time !) if you sit the decal in place it can be moved until pressed down as the vinyl is Air release vinyl but if you do press it down as long as u leave one corner up you can re-lift it to reposition until the decal is pressed firmly in place from the centre outwards. As for the fuel gauge, ammeter, and temp gauge same basic process slide the decals under the needles, "LINE UP WITH ORIGINAL POSITIONING" of the dials and press down from middle out wards. Fitting Odometer you will need to remove the retainer clip and remove the odometer cylinder out of the brackets and spiral gear to fit the decals to the cylinder, yes there is a few extras there incase you crease or stuff a few up. once you have fitted the decals to the cylinder ( make sure you line the numbers up with the correct numbers) and on reinstallation make sure the cylinder retainer brackets line up on the crossbar bracket. reinstall your cluster and enjoy!
REMEMBER TIME, PATIENCE AND CARE IS THE KEY TO A NICE INSTALLATION!
However if your aren't mechanically minded and are a little put off by this process take your cluster out and take it to any instrument service store, I'm sure they will be happy to install your decals for a small fee
