First, check the power cord and power strip, check the power switch to make sure it is open (SDS1000CFL series has a power switch and a power protection switch). To judge whether the machine is powered on through checking fan’s working status, if the fan works, the machine is powered on. If everything is normal but the oscilloscope still cannot start, please contact the after sale service.
2. The screen does not appear waveform during the signal acquisition?
1) Check the connection of the probes and signals.
2) Check the connection of the signal cable and BNC.
3) Check the connection of the probes and objects.
4) Check whether the object generates signals
5) Repeat the acquisition
6) Check the trigger status
3. Waveform is appeared but not stable
1) Check the trigger source channel panel is consistent with the actual signal path.
2) Manually adjust the LEVEL trigger knob to see whether the waveform is stable.
3) Use AUTO to adjust the waveform automatically to see whether the waveform is stable
4) Adjust time base, rule out false-wave interference
4. Amplitude is not exactly
1) Check the unit of source amplitude, the default unit is Vpp of auto measurement which means difference between the highest and lowest value, the effective value. For example, commercial power we say is 220Vrms but the Vpp is over 600V.
2) Oscilloscope is not an accurate measurement tool, according to chip digit the vertical axis will have quantization error.
5. Distortion is big when check high frequency signal
1) Distortion is bigger when measuring signal near top limit of oscilloscope bandwidth. Usually bandwidth should be greater than or equal to five times bandwidth of measuring signal, at that time the distortion will be very small.
2) Wrong probe will lead to distorted waveform. At first bandwidth of probe should be greater than signal bandwidth, it would be best if it is greater than or equal five times. And then, if probe is divided into 1X and 10X, 1X is usually 6MHz-10MHz, 10X is the maximum bandwidth of probe.
6. Waveform is interfered when measuring small signal
1) Siglent SDS1000 series can measure mV signal. It will turn on bandwidth limitation function at 2mV/div and filter high frequency clutter.
2) Contact clip to reference earth of signal which can reduce the distortion because of electric difference between oscilloscope and measuring signal.
