I love these microphones! I use them to plug into my camcorder when filming bands. The sound is so much better with it. The best low cost, powered condenser microphone I’ve used.

This mic works OK to record with, however, has no light to signify is working other than a very short blip of red light when you first turn on. Requires one AA battery, so random life for recording unless you measure charge of each battery and keep track of average running time on such a high drain device. MiniDiscs help give you an exact time it goes from decent sound to just hiss once battery dies. The stand is handy sometimes, but not for the 90 degree recording setting mics usually set at in live settings. The foam deteriorated fast, then leaves black dust everywhere. Sound goes in and out at times. Hard to get good recordings with it in any live setting, which is mostly what I record. Headphones work much better, and cheaper, for this purpose. Overall, not impressed.

This is a good step up from the on-board microphone you are probably replacing this with. It is simple to use. Plug it in, choose the 90° or 120° setting, do your sound check to set your levels on your recording device and you are ready to go. This uses a single AA 1.5 volt battery for power. It connects to your device using a 3.5mm stereo plug. If you buy it used be sure it has the foam windscreen. This does quite a bit toward reducing the rough sounding noises you get when a breeze or light wind blows across the microphone. Strong points - Accurate sound reproduction; small size; ease of use; variable sound field; long battery life. Weak points - short non-detachable cord; weak in lower frequencies. This is a good microphone for use with Skype, your video camera, your computer or a digital recorder. What I liked best about this - plug and play use. What I liked least - Short cord.Read full review
I've been very pleased with it. I have a Kodak Zi8 pocket video camera that I use to record my wife and I playing folk tunes to upload to YouTube and this mic greatly improved the sound quality. I use a desktop mic stand and place it on the floor a couple of feet in front of us with the direction set to 90 degrees rather than 120. When using my cheap video camera it's hard to judge this mic's potential, but for what I'm using it for, it's great! So yes, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve the sound of their video camera.
This microphone is worth the price (used) the sound quality is very good, the 90 and 180 degree is a great option, and it works.
