The truth

about the

 killing of

Daniel Yock

Workers Inquiry

exposes police murder

“In March 19, 1994, an independent Workers Inquiry was convened in Brisbane to uncover the truth about the police killing of Daniel Yock, an 18 year old Aboriginal youth.
Yock died on November 7, 1993 after being chased and tackled to the ground by police, handcuffed, left unconscious and then dumped in the back of a police paddy wagon - all in broad daylight in front of eye witnesses.
Yock was the 52nd Aborigine to die in custody since the May 1989 cut-off date for the federal Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody, and the 151st since 1980.
Held in the face of strenuous efforts by the state to silence it, the Workers Inquiry exposed not only the cause of
Yock's death, but the elaborate cover up organised by the police, the Goss government and the Aboriginal leaderships.
This volume contains the record of the campaign conducted by the Socialist Labour League and the Committee for a Workers Inquiry, the evidence which was presented to the public hearing, and the finding brought down by the Workers Inquiry…”
