I bought the lens after comparing others in the same price range and found it best suited my needs. After using the lens i find myself liking the macro capability more and more. The image quality is fantastic and overall it is easy to use. Without the vibration reduction system however it can be more difficult in some situations to achieve a crisp image. If faced with the choice again i would definitely purchase the same way due to price, build quality and features.
I bought this lens new on ebay for a very reasonable price primarily to use in micro photography with my Nikon D5200 body although it is also a very usable tele-zoom lens as this Built-in-Motor version is able to autofocus with my D5200. For micro use its very long working distance is a distinct asset when shooting nervous insects and other critters. It is also light weight and easy to carry in the field. Compared to 150mm and 200mm Macro lenses from Nikon, Sigma and others the Tamron is a bargain! It is of course of lower build quality than these lenses but with its light weight and excellent working distance it is still very suitable for amateur use in the field
This Lens dose everything it says it will. This is a great lens to have if you only want to carry one lens as it as a macro function for the tiny close ups as well as a 300mm zoom for those long distance shots. This is my new favourite lens.
A good budget lens that does everything I want from long shots to macro. Works great on my D3200 and auto focus speed is fine
The lens is affordable, solid and pretty decent. Zoom ring is ever so slightly less buttery than the nikon.
