A biton Tuscan Fine China

R H & S L Plant (Ltd)

Manufacturers of porcelain at the Tuscan Works,Longton.

c.1898 -

http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/p/plantrhsl.html

Tuscan Fine China was founded 1878 Staffordshire,England by R. H. Plant. The Plant family were important potters back as far as1775. They were a strong family business, well run by generations of familymembers, until 1967 when they were taken over by Wedgwood, who added the name"Royal" as a prefix. Research and product development was veryimportant to them like other successful English Potteries such as Denby.

What I love about Tuscan China is theiroutstanding use of  colour and pattern - especially the use ofPastel colours in the photograph above. The pink ground in the photograph belowis also such a luxurious and soft pink - and not harsh at all like pink glazecan so often be. In the final photograph at the bottom again thereis expert use of combining colours and pattern to create an outstandingdesign.
