Please call David on 0439 318 770 (after 3.30 pm on weekdays and after 9 am on weekends) for an inspection. If you don't have the cash then please DON'T bid. I'm not in a hurry to sell, but don't have time for dreamers!! NO SWAPS or TRADES (unless you are talking about a genuine Pacer-ha ha)!
Up for grabs today is a recently completed 1969 VF valiant Ute. Bought as a rolling body 12 months ago, the car was painted by the previous owner approx 12 years ago and never left the shed!!. The body has been repaired using metal (not full of bog at all that i can find). The paint is a reasonable job, but you can see some previous sign writing underneath it and it does have some chips and wavers along it from sitting unfinished in a shed for so long, so not a show car , but a nicely presented work car or someone’s first VALIANT!!!
Now for the work that has been done!!
I wasn’t expecting to do so much work on this, but couldn’t stop once I started, and I won’t let an unsafe car go onto the road, so here is what I have done.
SUSPENSION AND UNDERBODY: Replaced the k frame to suit a HEMI motor.
Replaced Upper Ball joints, lower Ball joints, Tie rod ends, Idler Arm, Upper Control arm bushes (has good (not new) nolathane on lower bushes), Radius rod bushes. Have a new pitman arm to go with it, but didn’t require it. Bumpstop rubbers and lower control bumps checked/replaced with good second hand units. New Shock absorbers.
Rear springs have had all rubbers replaced and New shock absorbers as well.
Front brakes have had VJ callipers installed, with new pads and the pistons all cleaned and checked. A VG brake booster installed and later master cylinder. All NEW hoses installed in the brakes at front and rear. New wheel cylinders fitted in the rear, new shoes and a whole heap of NOS springs, parts etc for the rear brakes ( as it actually had NOTHING on it). Rear wheel drums checked.
Fuel tank removed, painted and rubbers/seals replaced as needed. Charger flip top cap fitted.
Everything painted underneath the car!
ENGINE and TRANSMISSION: A low KM 245 Hemi was sourced from a VH. Was told that it has had the Valves and Valve stem seals done, Cam reground, Bearings Checked, Mains Bearing replaced. Crank Balanced. The auto transmission (BW35) was also apparently a rebuilt unit. (changes very quietly and smoothly).
I was able to confirm that some work was done when the sump was removed- could see slight wear on the 3rd cyl (from sitting a while) but nothing that isn’t probably gone by now.
I have replace the oil pump, sump and rocker cover seals, new thermostat and housing, all new hoses, filters etc. Added a 2 barrel Carby with manual choke. Replaced fuel pump (SH unit).Entire new standard exhaust using original exhaust manifold with working hotbox. New PVC valve. Distributer has been overhauled by myself adding NOS parts as needed. Engine has been tuned and serviced by a professional. Painted in a “pacer” theme. Runs well when warmed up. Doesn't blow smoke.
Radiator and heater core have been checked, cleaned and repaired by a professional.
Diff has been drained, cleaned, re-sealed and re filled.
Bonnet catch and pin replaced. Headlights fitted with H4 units. All lights and indicators are working.
INTERIOR: Charger seats (base model) flip forward installed. Valiant Retractable seat belts fitted. Charger steering wheel. Dash has been repaired and then re-covered, pacer Dash strips installed. New carpet and underlay in the front. New stereo and speakers (now not currently working for some reason!!) All dash was checked for working, heater facias etc sunvisors. Interior light lense, glovebox liner. All scuff plates, kick panels etc painted/repaired etc.
NEW front windscreen rubber fitted. Back windscreen installed (was missing and rubber installed from later model Valiant ute (no leaks on screens!). Heater doors replaced with new foam installed. Door trims fitted with a “pacer” look. Very nice arm rests winders etc fitted. Door locks replaced to fit ignition key and all keyed alike. All Black and silver.
BODY: Very good front Grille and headlight surrounds fitted. Good front bumper fitted (not perfect). Refurbished eyebrows and bonnet mould fitted (pacer look) and refurbished drip rail moulds fitted.VE Wagon rear bar fitted (again not perfect). Tail gate aligned. Flat Tonneau Cover fitted with 3 bars .New wiper arms, blades etc fitted. Working washer pump etc.
5 X 6inch mags fitted with roadworthy tread (185 back/175
front). Spare is NOT same as rest, but is a period jelly bean type. All new
Nuts and washers fitted (RH all round- bolts replaced as needed to get rid of LH
threads). Centre caps fitted.
Since registering and now driving for a couple of weeks there are few small things I would still look at. The Amp meter keeps flicking and lights go up and down a little on low beam (have had it checked and Alternator is charging fine and within limits, so might be a voltage regulator. There is a noise from the RHS rear wheel. Not sure if it is the rear wheel bearing or a drum drag noise. I don’t think it is the diff but I am not a mechanic. The brake mechanic also suggested that the master cylinder ‘might’ be losing pressure, so may need attention. There is a slight short on the horn when turning hard left sometimes as it beeps occasionally. It seems to run a little hot according to the gauge, but I have replaced the thermostat again and I think I may have the wrong brass unit in the head for the temp wire or a false reading on the gauge as it doesn’t feel too hot to touch. The car also starts in all gears -so neutral start switch is not connected (faulty). Not really a problem though as it doesn't stop the car from functioning in anyway.
The car is now on FULL registration in South Australia and is insured through shannons for 8K.
I recommend an inspection if you are interested in this car. I have a hoist in the shed if you want to put it on that for checking as I have absolutely nothing to hide regarding this car. I wouldn’t hesitate to be able to drive this home, as I am pretty sure that it will be super reliable, as most of the stuff that can go wrong has been replaced, but I take NO responsibility for this. Please call me if you are interested in organising an inspection or having a mate come and check it out for you.
Must be really clear about payment! You can use paypal, but you MUST pay for all cost incurred for this. I will NOT clear the car until ALL fees have been paid. Prefer Cash or Bank deposit.
Cheers David 0439 318 770 after 3.30 pm on weekdays and after 9 am on weekends.
