Works well. Clear insulation resistance reading is provided, if you use the correct terminals. The manual isn't much help here but if you're unfamiliar with these devices then you can find general instructions online. Testing it with my multimeter it correctly reports 10 megohm resistance on the 250 and 500V ranges, and it reports 13 megohm on the 1000V setting. When the tester is operating on the 250V setting the multimeter measures 210 VDC on its output. At 500V the multimeter measures 560 VDC, and at 1000V the measurement is 1060 VDC. At 250V the tester outputs 2.3 mA (0.6 W), at 500V this increases to 2.6 mA (1.3 W), and at 1000V it supplies 2.2 mA (2.25 W). The unit has space for eight AA batteries, although only six are used. I successfully used it with 3x lithium 14500 batteries and 3x placeholder batteries, even though this is slightly above spec (12V vs 9V) but the unit works without any problems.Read full review

Does not provide insulation resistance as claimed. Basically only provides continuity and even for that it requires the leads to be plugged into a separate socket on the instrument
