Vintage Holmegaard Ships Glass - Ale Glass

This beautiful glass is in excellent condition. It is free from chips, cracks and etching or clouding.

They were released in as part of the "Skibsglas" (ships glass) range of table glassware designed by Per Lutken for Holmegaard. They were produced from 1970. He designed the range as a deliberate backlash to cheap commercial mass production glassware that was thin and lacked a feeling of substance and quality.

The range features Holmegaard's trademark slightly pale blue tinged crystal that is beautifully thick and heavy. The glasses feature a simple and sturdy design with solid stems.

The ships glass range is so popular it is still produced today.

This particular glass is the largest of its shape in the series and is an Ale glass. It is in excellent condition, it has a few light little scuffs from use which are mostly confined to the base. There is one section to the side of the glass with a number of small scuffs from contact with another item in the cupboard (see pictures) there are no deep scratches.
