PLEASE READ so you can understand the way these books were printed. An excellent resource on these books is Krause's Collecting Little Golden Books by Santi, FOURTH EDITION (covers Tell a Tale series).

ABOUT TELL A TALE BOOKS

The date they carry inside is not always accurate.Similar to dating Classics Illustrated comics, the date on these has to be determined by the titles listed on the back, rather than the date alone. I have, to the best of my ability, determined dates on these using that method. It took me many hours. Page counts vary. Also the SAME title can have different code #s depending on the date/edition.

Some other clues as to age or first edition : cover price (earliest are 15 cents and on those sometimes the price is not printed on the book at all---it's a price sticker); Authorized Edition (appears on the title pages and/or front cover of earliest editions and stopped in the early 70s as best as I can tell); size (some earlier editions of the same title are larger than later editions); Whitman logo (later editions have the child head with the "W" hat on the title pages; some VERY EARLY editions do not even have the Whitman black oval logo)

These are unused file copies from Whitman files. In most cases, I have more than 1 example so the picture represents overall condition, NOT NECESSARILY EXACT CONDITION. So if I have 5 of something, I shot an example photo of one. All are similar condition. If this bothers you, please don't buy! Also these books can be found much cheaper from other sellers on EBAY...... IF you do not care about condition. I am selling these to serious collectors looking for high grade condition examples. ==========
