Wood Chips 450g

Wood chips are very small pieces of hardwood that provide a quick burst of natural flavouring or smoke to the foods you are cooking.

Whether you choose to use wood chips or chunks, the main idea is to sustain the burn time of your wood. These woods are used not as a fuel source but to impart natural flavouring into the foods you cook. We recommend soaking the wood chips in hot water, wine, beer, whiskey, or any flavouring you wish to impart into the food. Whatever you soak the wood in will also reveal itself in the flavour of the foods being cooked. The soak time will depend on the desired result. Generally, the stronger the flavour of the liquid, the shorter the soak time! Liquids with a stronger flavour such as wine and whisky may only require you to soak the chips for 15 minutes. Using lemon juice or water, you may want to soak for up to 12 hours.

You only need to use 3/4 cup each time so this 450g packet will give you around 4 uses per bag, possibly more if you prefer a more subtle smokey flavour. Supplied in a foil resealable pack.

We offer a range of flavours: note that all of the following may not always be in stock. Individual listings apply for different flavours. If you want more than one flavour, ask us for a combined invoice to discount the postage. We can put up to 4 packets in a 3kg Australia Post satchel which makes it a much more economical way to buy. Or mix and match with some of our other products.

Please specify which flavour you want. By default we will send Mesquite Chips. If you want another flavour please ask. Note that sometimes not all varieties are available.

Hickory: produces a bold bacon flavoured smoke which is best suited for pork and beef, but can be used for poultry as well.
Mesquite: Mesquite is strong as a smoking wood, and should be used sparingly. Considered to be excellent when cooking steak.
Oak: a very versatile flavour that can be used with all meats.

We post this item by Australia Post or a Courier. All items are posted within 3 working days of us receiving payment. Once the item has been posted we are unable to take responsibility for the time it takes for you to receive your item, especially if you live in a regional area. If you require an item urgently or wish to track the parcel, please let us know as we can register the parcel or send by Express Post for an additional fee. If you buy multiple items, we may be able to combine postage. Please contact us prior to check out so that we can organise a quote. Unfortunately we are unable to offer a pick up service.

Please make our job easier by letting us know where our courier can leave your parcel if you are not home to sign for it. This also avoids expensive redelivery fees.

We do our best to keep our postage costs to a minimum to help you save. For larger items, you are welcome to use your own carrier and we will help organise shipments. Please note: Insurance is optional and we recommend this for purchases above $100.
