- Author BiographyDr David Brockwell School of Biochemistry and Microbiology University of Leeds Leeds LS2 9JT David obtained his B.Sc. in Pharmacy from the University of Manchester in 1992 and registered as a Pharmacist after a qualification year at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London in 1993. He then returned to Manchester and obtained his Ph.D in 1997. After six years post-doctoral work in the School of Biochemistry and Microbiology at Leeds, he was appointed to the academic staff of the same department jointly as part of the EPSRC funded Doctoral Training Centre and the newly created Institute of Molecular Biophysics. His main of area of research involves the use of single molecule techniques to characterise the mechanical properties of proteins and their complexes and the relation between these fundamental aspects of protein structure, stability and dynamics to the control of biological activity and homeostasis in vivo.
