The Real Untouchables
This is a series of 3 documentaries of famous crimefighters of the 1930's: Eliot Ness, Melvin Purvis and Thomas E. Dewey. It seems to have been well researched and gives different points of view on the matters. But the Eliot Ness story puts way too much emphasis on the St. Valentine Day Massacre, viewing and reviewing the gruesome footage over and over again, when it had little to do with the story that was being portrayed. I felt that it tried to discredit Eliot Ness a little too much also, a viewpoint that is questionable. The stories behind the documentaries were re-enacted by actors as well as presented by documentary footage, which gave the program a little more interest. All in all it was a good portrayal of these 3 men.

The Real Untouchables DVD
I am a fan of the old Untouchables show that is being rebroadcast and I wanted to know how realistic it was. Therefore, I bought the book the show was based on and this DVD from Ebay. I liked it but I had hoped that it had more film footage of the original characters. It says three volumes box set which made me think it was 3 DVDs but it is 3 stories on one DVD (my fault). It is a good docu-drama of three of the most influential lawmen during the gangster era of Al Capone.

This was about people other than Elliot Ness. It had nothing about him or his team actions. It was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe I have to read closer.
