PVC aprons are a heavy-duty option. For kitchens with a significant amount of grease, or those where water is easily splashed on the user, this type of apron works best. Some are waterproof. Most are thicker and more durable overall. Some are heat resistant as well.

Poly cotton aprons are another blend of materials. A bit less rigid than PVC aprons with more flexible and lightweight wear, these aprons provide a moderate level of protection. Some are also waterproof.

When it comes to choosing restaurant supplies, select those designed for the specific space, the way users will need protection and for the desired image. Waist aprons, for example, are for uniforms and provide only coverage for lower portions of the body. This works well in a serving use. Bib aprons offer protection and are best for prep stations or workstations where individuals will get dirty. Most bib aprons can also fold in half, allowing the user to choose the best way to wear them based on the tasks at hand.
