Using API liquid test kit as a benchmark this pocket pen, whilst a great idea, just doesn't work. I have two tanks with entirely different PH levels. Depending on which one I put the pen into first, the readout is either on the money or waaaay off. If I benchmark to one, it gives a dodgey reading on the other. Hence it just can't be trusted to give accuracy - and as we all know PH accuracy is a matter of life and death to our fishy charges.

erratic readings, not terribly accurate. I've bought one of these pocket-type PH meters before, and it arrived with busted sensor and erratic readings. This one arrived in a sealed case, and visually, the sensors appear undamaged, but although the fluctuating readings appear "ball-park", they are not as reliable as my aged much-cheaper (and much larger) soil/water PH meter, that is more stable, and more accurate than these types of meters. Manufactured quality is good, but the problem seems to be in the underlying design of pocket PH meters. I've been two times burnt, and not trying for a third! Not recommended!

Tried several Digital PH meters with both manual and auto zero adjustment, most are a waste of time, but this one remained calibrated and accurate for for than 9 months. Worth the extra money.
