I'm a 4.8... hcp looking to go back to forged blades, stumbled upon the MP-63's and they looked like the perfect club between baldes & cavity back. Great looking set of irons. The Mizuno MP-63 is much easier to hit than expected at first glance, has a much higher ball flight than normal blades and still give you a great blade feel. Easy to work the ball (draw/fade), still working on lowering my ball flight with these but I know it will come with more reps. The MP 63 irons gave me great distance control as expected and they were just as long as any other iron i have ever hit. Originally i was torn between the 53's & 63's so i visited my local golf store and tested them both, on the LM i was getting higher ball speeds and further carry distance with the 63's compared to the MP-53's. I'm glad that I purchased the mp 63's and i know they will improve my game!
I have played the MP 60s for the past 5 years, so I woul...d say I am already a big Mizuno fan, so I may be a little bias. These are every bit as solid as the MP 60s that I loved, probably a little lower overall ball flight which I like and needed. I also like the blade style look from the top line, I just like a real traditional look and these have that. I have only played a handful of rounds so far with these, but the mishits still travel most of the distance which is not the case with a set of traditional blades, so I would say they have a fair amount of forgiveness. Also, if you like to work the ball, these accomplish that as well. All in all, great set of irons, and if your not familiar with Mizuno, you can count on them for high quality irons.
I played R9 tp before the mp63. I liked the R9 overall but ...love the mp 63's. I hit the ball very high and found it hard to control flight with R9. Right out of the box these mizunos allowed me to hit it high low right and left. I could hit a high soft 135 yard fade with a 9 iron and also could put it back in my stance and hit a 155 yard digging bullet. I found this to be true with all the clubs. I am a 3 but anyone who would like instant feedback and become a better ball striker, especially a 10 handicap or so, should get these clubs. They will make you a better iron player because of the control they give you. When hit solid they are butter and if you miss one they let you know it. I would hate to miss a hard 5 iron on a cold day! This is my first mizuno experience...Overall A+... I will be using these for a while.
I purchased these iron to ...replace my MP-32's...I had played the 32's for 7 or more years. Needless to say the 32's were worn out. I have only played Mizuno irons for the last 15 years. The first round with the MP-63's was as if I had never switched irons. The are a little hard to hit if you don not strike it solid most of the time. Great feel. Easy to hit these irons low, high, right, left and even straight. These irons are not for high handicappers. I think anyone that is a 10 or less will love these sticks. I also switched from DG-S300's to Project X 6.0 and really like the shafts. I have around 5 or 6 rounds on the irons and will be playing them for the next 10 years. Mizuno keeps helping the "better" player with making better "game enhancement" irons every year.
A great set of irons. Typical soft feel. Great design.... Irons are amazingly easy to play. I would recommend this iron for 10 index players and below
