This book is a Collection of old regional Recipes from the Central area of Virginia, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Most of these recipes were popular and used in the early 1970's and many of them are even older. They are simple and basic recipes for preparing hearty and tasty dishes eaten every day by the people of the area at that time. They are from an era when foods were prepared with simple ingredients, and simple equipment, but with love.
Don Bobbitt is an author of several books including a reference book on Food terms and preparation methods titled FOOD FACTS. He and his wife, Helen have been avid cooks and entertainers for decades, and their cooking skills have grown over the years. They presently travel around the country in their RV, and sample the regional foods. And, when possible they acquire recipes from diverse sources including restaurants, old cookbooks, and even, at times, just slips of paper from proud Cooks and Chefs. Don and Helen have sorted through their collection and begun publishing their favorite recipes in a series of books called Old Recipes, of which this is the first volume.
