This is the fourth Philips razor I have had; this one replaces an HP 6230 which I used for about a year before giving up on it. Before that, I had another 6342 which I threw away in disgust, as it simply did not cut anymore. That one was plagued with very loud buzzing and rattling, which it was impossible to do anything about. Sad to say, this current one has exactly the same trouble. All of this is against the background of the Philips model I originally had, which worked exceptionally well for a long time, and I only retired it because it developed a tear in the foil. The 6342 looked very similar, but certainly wasn't. I attempted to contact Philips to bring this discrepancy to their attention, but there is no meaningful channel through which this can be done. Maybe someone at Philips will read this, but I doubt anything will change. So, this current example, while it cuts well enough, provided you do enough back-and-forth stroking with it, is even noisier than the older one. I find it hard to believe that they knowingly designed something that behaves this way. Unfortunately, this is the best of a bad lot. I have looked everywhere for a suitable alternative; I have tried several other brands, which are obviously all imitations, and none of them work satisfactorily, although not all have this irritating buzzing behaviour. I would point out that this is not something that developed over time, it was like that right out of the box, same as the other one. So, why did I buy another exactly the same as the one I didn't like? Well, because as I said above, I couldn't find any realistic alternative. I wish now that I hadn't thrown away the original one; I could have bought a new foil for it. It was still working just fine, but the tear was making it bite me, which wasn't too good. I don't even know what model number it was, else I would go searching for one. But all that is available now is the two that are mentioned here, and neither is acceptable. What's happened to our world? Many things have gone the same way. Nothing is meant to be repaired any more. Sad world we live in now.Read full review

This retails at $35, but I got it on a sale at $20. Having used it, it's worth 35 bucks. Light, easy to use, and shaves really well.
