This was my second group head seal replacement in the 10 years I've had the old 6910. Easy to replace, works a charm. Always good to see the comparison between the old and new. When you take out the old, you'd never in a million years think it started bright blue. But this is a rubber/plastic seal in a device with (up to) 15 BAR, near boiling water. Last seal actually cracked while I was doing back flushing after I noticed some issues with water flow. I can't really fault that seal either. It lasted years, and back flushing ramps the pressure up to max if you're not careful (I wasn't). These seals are such good value, I'd buy extra, except I believe Murphy would then come along and break something else on the machine.

I was suspicious of this seal because, when comparing it with the old one, it was about a milimetre thinner than the old one, which had become squashed down with use and leaked. The new one also leaks when the pressure is high - perhaps less than the old one but not as secure as the original seal fitted to the coffee maker. It seems there is a manufacturing fault in the replacement seal.

My machine leaked even more after replacement and everything prior was cleaned thoroughly. I cut a very thin cardboard washer to fit above the new seal and the problem was fixed immediately. There’s a lot of reference to this on the Net.

The part fits well and provides a good seal for the group head. It does now require me to turn the handle a little more to the right to get a tight seal. But, overall I'm satisfied and it means i can keep the Sunbeam machine going for a while longer.
