Pokémon TCG Base Set Sealed Collectable Card Game Packs

1st Edition Pokémon card packs

When the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) was first released, nobody could have predicted how huge it would become. Originally a Japanese game, the first English version was released in 1999 and it absolutely boomed. Since, there have been several expansion packs including titles such as:

  • Hidden Fates
  • Unbroken Bonds
  • Unified Minds
  • Forbidden Light
  • Ultra Prism
  • Celestial Storm
  • Lost Thunder
  • Plus, many more

However, most people agree that 1st Edition Pokémon card packs are the most valuable. Individual cards are certainly valuable, but remarkably, even the packs themselves have great worth. Sealed 1st Edition Pokémon card packs are often sold in display cases, untouched and unopened, because this is how they hold their value. In fact, owners won’t even know what cards are inside. There may be nothing of value individually, but as a sealed 1st Edition pack, they can be worth quite a bit.

How to build your collection

In addition to 1st Edition card packs on eBay, there are countless other ways to buy cards. From booster packs to boxes and even entire collections, you can find almost anything. One of the other interesting sets you can collect is the 25th Anniversary collection.

If you’re looking for financially valuable cards, you can try to find PSA Pokémon cards. These have been graded by Professional Sports Authenticator, so they’ve been carefully analysed and you can get a good idea of their value.

However, if you’re a casual collector, you can grab booster packs, bulk card sets or even search individually for the cards you want most.

McDonalds Card packs

While not technically a first edition, in 2021 McDonalds released some 25th Anniversary Pokémon cards of its own, commonly known as Maccas Pokémon cards. Fortunately, if you missed out on these you can still find them on eBay. You’ll get sealed packs, individual cards and even sets with multiple packs. While not technically part of the TCG, they’re still fun for collectors!
