Clip-On Sunglasses

While a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses definitely exude the cool factor, unfortunately wearing a separate pair of sunglasses may not be the most comfortable thing for those who already wear prescription glasses. Enter clip-on sunglasses, which protect your eyes and improve your style factor simply by clipping on to your existing glasses.

How They Work

Clip-on sunglasses just literally clip on to your glasses, converting regular glasses to polarised sunglasses. Clip-on sunglasses are smaller and lighter than regular sunglasses, while offering the same benefits. There are generally three types, namely regular clip-ons, magnetic clip-ons, and flip-up clip-ons. Generally, you will need to purchase a clip-on that matches the shape of your prescription glasses, and comes in a shade that offers you a comfortable level of protection from glaring light.

Regular Clip-On Sunglasses

This type of clip-on has a clip that attaches to the bridge of the prescription glasses, and only clip on or off. If you no longer require them, you will have to unfasten and remove them to use your glasses as per normal, and refasten them when you need them again.

Magnetic Clip-On Sunglasses

This type of clip-on generally is made of a titanium frame, and clips on magnetically to the sides of your prescription glasses. This type of clip-on will only work if the lens of your glasses are in a metal frame. Otherwise, they generally function like a regular clip-on, though some can also function as a flip-up.

Flip-Up Clip-On Sunglasses

If you don't want to unfasten and refasten your clip-ons often, a flip-up offers a good alternative, as they attach to your glasses but can just flip upward to allow you to use your prescription glasses as usual. This would come in especially handy when driving under changing light conditions, which may require you to change protection levels often.
