Rheostat or Temperature Probe

Electric smoker BBQs use either a rheostat or a temperature probe. Rheostat options are more affordable and make use of a rheostat, which turns down the flow of electricity to the coil in a similar manner to a gas stove. Models with a temperature probe have a thermostat that monitors the internal temperature and the temperature probe turns on and off to keep it at the required temperature.

A water pan and drip tray are normally required as well. Certain offers bundle those items together with an electric BBQ.
