Electric Smoker BBQs

Electric smoker BBQs are a type of BBQ that allows you to easily cook a variety of food. A large range of models are available, with different designs and feature sets. Popular options include the Bradley Smoker and the Cookshack Amerique.

Rheostat or Temperature Probe

Electric smoker BBQs use either a rheostat or a temperature probe. Rheostat options are more affordable and make use of a rheostat, which turns down the flow of electricity to the coil in a similar manner to a gas stove. Models with a temperature probe have a thermostat that monitors the internal temperature and the temperature probe turns on and off to keep it at the required temperature.

Benefits

Smoker BBQs provide many benefits when compared to other cooking methods. An electric model allows you to cook food with a similar level of difficulty as a microwave. Compared to the amount of fuel, oil, tidying and maintenance that other forms of cooking can require, the more straightforward, ease of use approach of an electric smoker BBQ is a definite advantage. They have the ability to cold smoke, which is smoking at between 20 to 30 degrees. This gives the food a smoked flavour whilst maintaining moisture. This method is versatile and works well with a variety of foods, such as fish, cheese, bacon, sausages, jerky and capsicum.

Range

Some models are small enough to fit on a table, whereas others need their own space and accommodate much more food. Some come with programmed temperature settings for low, medium and high, whereas others allow you to manually select the exact temperature desired.

Accessories

Accessories are available for electric smoker BBQs. There is a large variety of racks for various foods, which are specifically designed to cook chicken wings or ribs, for example. A water pan and drip tray are normally required as well. Certain offers bundle those items together with an electric BBQ.
