When purchasing small animal hutches, many times the same hutch is suitable for housing a rabbit, guinea pig or chicken. When used outside, these pet cages protect the animal from the elements, keep them warm and out of the reach of harmful predators. Available as indoor and outdoor specimens, they may include an extra screened space so the animal can roam and exercise. In most instances, hutches ship flat so assembly is required.
Metal Rabbit Hutches
Weatherproofed metal rabbit hutches are chew-proof and have a lift-up roof so you can change the water and add food. Some include a sleeping area, a separate wire fence and run space to provide fresh air and mobility. Additionally, secure locks keep the pets safe, while the front door is easily accessible to let the rabbits go in and out of the covered section.
Wooden Rabbit Hutches
Wooden rabbit hutches are available in several configurations to provide animal privacy when housing several rabbits. Built from solid wood, which may be waterproofed, some have an asphalt roof to keep out sun and rain as well as multiple sections in one unit. For instance, there may be a top tier to include a sleeping and covered outside area that has a ramp leading to a bottom tier surrounded by mesh wire. The ramp folds up and down to keep animals segregated as desired.
Plastic Rabbit Hutches
Plastic hutches may include a movable stand on wheels made from powder-coated steel. A bottom tray under the stand provides storage space for food and toys or extra room for rabbits to rest and play. Top and side door entrances allow you to feed and pet the animals. For convenience, it may have a feeding bowl on the side and a hay rack inside.
