Longines Watches

Longines is a Swiss watch maker and has been making well-designed watches since 1832. Longines produces watches for both men and women that satisfy a market need for stylish but understated watches that don’t look out of place when conducting business, attending a formal occasion or boating along one of Australia’s many great beaches or waterways. Longines even makes pocket watches. Longines pocket watches feature the same classy form-follows-function as their wrist-worn counterparts. Longines watches all use Swiss watch movements that were designed in-house by Longines itself. They can display the basics: minutes, hours, seconds. But you can also find Longines watches that do more, like the day, month, and even phase of the moon.

Longines

Longines was founded in Saint-Imier, Switzerland by Auguste Agassiz in 1832 along with two business partners. They started selling out pocket watches until in 1846 Auguste became the head of the company. He had a lot of useful contacts in the United States, which helped Longines move into a huge overseas market. Longines would eventually go on to pioneer the industrialisation of Swiss watchmaking, moving from a system where watches were painstakingly assembled by a series of specialised craftsmen to one where watches could be produced in sufficient quantity and quality to take over markets in the United States and elsewhere. Longines won several historical awards and participated in famed expos as it developed both its brand and its highly accurate chronometers. Longines is named after the place where its first factory was established, and it has never let go of its history and lineage. In 1982, for instance, it launched a line named after founder Agassiz.

Watch Bands

The band is as important to the look of a watch as the timepiece itself , and Longines produces watches with both genuine leather and metal wristbands for men and women. If you have your own idea about what kind of watch band would look good with your Longines watch, or if you simply need a replacement, you can have a look at the Longines watch bands on offer for some ideas.
