Loose Diamonds

Fashion jewellery starts with the jewel. Loose diamond gemstones are the perfect accent to any piece. From earrings to necklaces, bracelets to rings, diamonds truly are a girl's best friends. To choose the best stone for you, remember to inspect the clarity, shape, size, and finish.

Clarity

Clarity is how perfect or imperfect the diamond might be. Diamonds have internal characteristics, or inclusions, or external characteristics, called blemishes. The clarity chart runs from flawless to I3 depending on the number of inclusions and blemishes that occur within the stone. The majority of these faults can only be seen under a powerful microscope and not by the naked eye. As expected, the cleaner the diamond, the rarer and more expensive it will be.

Shape

There are several different shapes to pick from when choosing a loose diamond. Round is by far the most popular, but a princess cut, which looks like a square, isn't far behind it. You might also like a heart, oval, or pear shape. It honestly comes down to preference when choosing a configuration. Once you have the shape picked out, you can concentrate on the ring setting and what will highlight the jewel best.

Size

Size does matter, especially when it comes to gemstones. The diamonds size depends on the carat weight. A half carat stone is noticeably smaller than a two carat stone. That being said, it doesn't mean one is better than the other, it just means there is a difference in the size. Someone with small hands might not want to wear a huge rock around day after day, while larger hands might overpower a small stone.

Finish

Picking between natural finished loose diamonds and natural rough loose diamonds is easy once you know the difference between the two. A natural rough finished gemstone lacks the sparkle and shine of natural finished. Cutting and polishing is what makes the diamond shine.
