Memory Foam Insoles

Memory Foam Insoles – Everyday Comfort In Your Shoes

If like most of us, you have ever suffered aches, pains or discomfort in your feet, there may be a very easy first step.  By slipping a memory foam insole into your shoe, you could have a simple solution to many of the issues that we all have with our feet.  Improvements range from increased comfort, longer lifespan of your shoes, improved mobility and a reduction in day-to-day foot pain.

How do insoles work?

Insoles are designed to support the foot while inside the shoe.  An insole, sometimes referred to as a shoe insert, provides an extra layer between the foot and the shoe that can dramatically increase the comfort of the footwear, or even how your foot sits in the shoe.

Some insoles are designed purely to provide a softer base for the foot to rest upon.  These insoles will be shaped like the inside of the shoe and are flat.  The foot then has a softer surface to rest on as you walk or run.

Other, thicker insoles will be contoured on the top side.  This allows a potentially drastic change to how your foot is supported within the shoe.  For instance, a common use of an insole is to assist with flat feet, where someone’s feet will hurt after walking or running due to a lack of support in the arch of the foot.  Using an insole that has an increase of foam under the arch of the foot can help rectify that problem.

What is memory foam?

Memory foam was developed by NASA in the mid-1960s to improve the safety of cushions in aircraft.  Its main characteristic is to provide a much slower springing back than that of regular foam.  It is denser than regular foam and can take much more weight.  As a result, it is similar to the cushioned, soft feel of regular foam, but a vast improvement.  It is used today in a huge range of products to provide support, from footwear to mattresses.

On eBay, you will find a huge range of memory foam insoles, in all shapes and sizes to suit any foot, as well as a range of other shoe care products.
