Men’s Rainwear Coats and Jackets
During the wetter months a good coat or jacket to keep out the elements is essential. There are many materials and styles of men’s rain jacket available, from lightweight water-resistant jackets designed to protect you from short showers to heavy-duty waterproof coats suitable for keeping the avid outdoorsman dry, even in extremely wet weather. Consider factors such as the season, your lifestyle and frequency of wear when you are choosing a raincoat to keep you dry. You may find that you require both a light jacket and a heavier coat for different circumstances.Lightweight Water Resistance
For day-to-day use around a rainy city during mild temperatures, a lightweight jacket is probably most appropriate. Men’s rain jackets come in many styles and colours, with plenty of handy optional features such as protective pocket flaps and hoods that can be folded away into a zip compartment of the collar. A polyester rain jacket would be good for the spring, when you want to stay dry but avoid getting too hot. These jackets are also useful for those interested in hiking as staying cool is important on a long and difficult trails.Heavy Duty Waterproofing
In winter, a more heavy-duty jacket may be needed for tough hikes and trails, heavy downpours and colder climates. A durable full-length coat offers more protection during harsher weather. Additional features such as elasticated cuffs and hem helps to keep the warmth in and the rain out, especially when coupled with a high, insulated collar and a full hood. Coats with a thick inner lining are ideal for keeping warm during the coldest days. Some men’s raincoats even come with removable inner linings that make them perfect for use year-round.Nylon for Comfort
Nylon rain jackets have similar properties to polyester, though their are some differences to note when choosing your rainwear. Nylon reportedly has a more comfortable texture than polyester, which is often rougher to the touch. Both materials are lightweight and strong, which makes them excellent choices for the outer shell of your raincoat in mild to moderate rain. In extreme weather, polyester has the edge on nylon in its ability to repel water. While nylon and polyester are both hydrophobic, nylon is known to absorb some water and thus take longer to dry out after a heavy shower.
