Mobility and Walking Equipment

Disability equipment such as mobility and walking products help improve many people’s quality of life. These devices can make it easier for people to get around and reduce the amount of stress and strain they put on their bodies. There are many types of mobility and walking products available, so you can find items that accommodate your specific needs.

Walkers and Canes

Walkers and canes provide added support and stability while you walk. You can use most canes with one hand. Find them made of metal or wood, and choose canes that feature rubber tips on the bottoms, which prevent slipping. Walkers provide more support than canes, and their design is for use with two hands. Pick one with or without wheels.

Crutches

People with injuries to their legs use crutches, but others can use them to reduce strain on the legs and improve stability. Most crutches feature aluminium or another lightweight metal, but you can also find wooden crutches as well. Some have a design that goes underneath the armpits, while others attach to the forearms and elbows.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are very useful for those with limited mobility. Some of these chairs feature large wheels that users push with their own hands to move themselves forward. Others are electric powered with controls located on one of the arms of the chairs. There are also wheelchairs with a specific design for other people to push individuals in the chairs.

Mobility Scooters

Mobility scooters are electric mobility devices, and many of them are available for indoor and outdoor use. Some mobility scooters feature handlebar steering and acceleration systems, while others have steering systems that users operate with just one hand. Some scooters can go much faster than the standard walking speed and have a top speed of up to 12 km/h.
