From nz estate sale. 1970s-1980s Lapidary Gemstone Ring. Cabochon is apx 15mm. Looks like Agate to me as banded. This is a very beautiful Cabochon Lapidary made. really nice ring. could also be used as a scarf ring.
This ring is an exceptionally rare surviving example and is an original piece dating to the 14th century and not any reproduction. It is made from bronze. An example is also to be found in the British Museum collection, an excerpt from their catalogue is shown as the last image above.
It cannot be resized, however, ring snuggies could be worn to adjust the size slightly for a comfortable fit. An astonishing authentic byzantine ring circa 9th century AD made in bronze. The face of the ring itself measures 1 1/16" wide across the top section and rises 11/16" high off the finger when it is being worn (27mm x 18mm).
