Printer Ink Cartridges

Printer Ink Cartridges

Shopping for ink cartridges can seem overwhelming at first, but it doesn't have to be, as long as you have a few bits of information. The first thing you will need to know is the make and model of your printer. The next thing you need to know is whether you are looking for black or coloured ink. The process in which you replace the ink will vary from one company's printer to the next, but the way you shop for printer ink does not change.

Branded or Unbranded

You do not have to purchase ink from the company that made the printer. You have the option of buying branded or compatible printer ink cartridges. There isn't anything wrong with using unbranded as long as you are diligent and confirm that the ink cartridge is compatible with your printer. To get the most out of your product, choose one that offers a high yield guarantee, so you get more copies before it's time to change the ink.

Refilled or Genuine

Another option you have when it comes to choosing ink cartridges is to purchase one that the manufacturer filled or to buy one that used a refill kit. Some people take empty printer ink cartridges and add the ink to make them like new again. This is a cost-efficient way to keep on printing.

Black

It won't take you long to realise that most of your printing uses black ink. For this reason, you tend to run out of black ink long before you run out of coloured. Companies know this and often will sell ink in bulk where you get two black and one coloured cartridge. To stay on top of your printing demands, it's always a good idea to keep an extra one or two on hand, so you are always ready no matter when you run out of ink.

Coloured

Sometimes you just need to print in colour. Some printers use one cartridge to combine the three main colours you need, while others use three separate containers to hold the ink. Your printer model will determine which one you will need in order to get rich, vivid pages.
