Stetson hats have long had a place in the hearts of men all over the world. Way back in the era of silent films, Stetson's Tom Mix hat was shaping western wear and implanting the classic 'white hat' (the good guys!) concept into pop culture of the times. Hailee Steinfeld brought the Stetson into the 21st century of film, wearing the Austral in True Grit in 2010. But the history of the Stetson hat goes back further than that, back to 1865. The very first hat created by John B Stetson was the Boss of the Plains, which the company has produced ever since.

Hat materials

These days, you can buy a Stetson hat in all sorts of materials, from woven fabric to straw and fur. Felted wool and fur tend to be most popular for winter hats; people buying summer headwear tend to go more for straw cowboy hats and cloth caps.

Hat styles

Stetson is most famous for its selection of western cowboy hats, many made from felted buffalo fur. But it also produces fedoras, baseball caps, flat ivy caps, and mesh safari hats. As if that weren't an impressive enough selection, Stetson also offers a premium range of hats. These are made with luxury felted fur, some with gold and diamond embellishments. No matter your style or budget, you're bound to find a Stetson hat that you can wear and love for years to come.

Accessorising a Stetson

If you want to go full movie cowboy, you can't go past a bolo tie and cowboy boots to really pull the look together. Add chinos and a loose-cut casual shirt, and you have that authentically casual outfit. But a classic Stetson hat can go with almost any outfit from business wear to beach clothing.
